Drupal programmers

Annesley just added to Tnv3/platforms:

the vast majority of Drupal programmers have never read a book or taken a course on programming. the vast majority do not understand OO, or systems architecture.

Do you have any references for these assertions?

One or many platforms?

We certainly need to know that whatever framework we use works brilliantly with whatever 'CRM' we use

The assumption appears to be that there will be one site that does everything, blogs, CRM, TN directory. Is it essential that it is one platform? It might be simpler using several, WordPress for blogs/ news, something else for CRM... etc. Has this been considered?

CRM is very unlikely to be handled by the same CMS

ED: that's not my assumption - my expectation is that the CRM is very unlikely to be handled by the same CMS that does the news/blogs/directories

Makes sense to me

That is good to hear, sorry I didn't realise what your view was on this, my feeling is that blog/news type sites are probably best done with WordPress and that CiviCRM/Drupal is probably the best bet for CRM/database type sites. If need be we could look at using a common authentication system for all the sites.
