Ttech Skype meet: confirming the workflows and wireframes
Tuesday 20 Dec 21:00 UK time
Wednesday 21 Dec 08:00 AUS time
Jim Kirkpatrick

Ed Mitchell

Next meet: Monday 09/01/11, 21:00 UK Time, Tuesday 10/01/11, 08:00 Aus time

Actions by next team meet: 09/01/12

  • Ed: start measurement requirements wiki page and add information
  • Laura: add TN.org measurement requirements to wiki page
  • Jim: review and edit project submission IA wiki page following meeting
  • ALL: review and comment/edit workflows wiki page
  • Laura: produce wireframes for project browsing in widget
  • Laura: produce wireframes for project submission in widget

Longer term actions:

  • Laura: set up wiki page and work on TN.org project profile IA
  • Jim: maintain infrastructure thinking
  • Ed: update alphas and betas with project status in new year

Strategic focus:

- Key points:
-- Widget as very low barrier to entry/harvesting/outreach in the field
-- Very simple moderation for webmasters at point of entry - but TN admin once it's in TN projects directory (for now, hope to extend this)
-- Project profile editing on TN.org to be richer experience designed to capture more about status than currently

Project item IA

https://tech.transitionnetwork.org/trac/ticket/372

/Sharing_Engine/Project_Submission_IA

- AGREED: fields
- AGREED: submitter submits a project submission which is not a node, but either a webform or a separate CT - this is handled separately until the moderator approves it when it becomes a node, CT type project, and the user account is generated
- Discussion about project on TN.org which is changing in PSE stage 2 by Laura
- Discussion about how to balance quick information harvesting by widget with getting quality data and keeping moderation workflow simple

Webmaster workflow

https://tech.transitionnetwork.org/trac/ticket/373

/Sharing_Engine/workflows
Generally agreed - not given too much attention

Item entry workflow and moderation workflow

https://tech.transitionnetwork.org/trac/ticket/374
https://tech.transitionnetwork.org/trac/ticket/379

/Sharing_Engine/workflows
- Discussed in depth; Ed to add changes to wiki page to reflect discussion
- submission to not be a node in the main directory until approved by moderator/webmaster
- user acct to be set as authorised following approval
- project submission to be very very short to keep it simple and encourage more work on main site following approval
- Status suggestions from Jim to be embedded

Updating Project CT and display and workflow on TN

- Discussed in depth - needs a separate ticket and further discussion
- Ed keen to use it as opportunity to radically shorten an over-engineered project form
- Laura keen to use it as opportunity to introduce better workflow, engagement and find-ability
- Jim identified elements of Project Dirt project sheets as very useful - e.g. project needs (money, skills etc.)
- Laura agrees and is looking to introduce checklists in place of big text fields
- Ed setting up separate ticket

Tracking

- Going to need to track standard web metrics by widget
- Going to need to run admin reports on projects added and status by widget
- Going to need to run mgt reports on webmasters' efficacy by response to moderation

Moderation discussion

- Jim sees a need to distribute moderation responsibility around TN
- Ed referred to lack of uptake on forum moderation in past
- Laura advised not to overload users
- Jim discusses stack overflow and user reward mechanisms for moderation
- Ed says webmasters are the group most likely to be moderators, and this project is the social enquiry into how to encourage users to do moderation
